Centrobasket day 2.

Jamaica 80, Virgin islands 64


Game was really close during the first half, Jamaica had a three point lead (34-31) but in the third quarter they took control of the game and even had a 22 point lead at one point. Akeem Scott  had 23 points, Samardo Samuels 20 and 9, Weyinmi Efejuku Rose had 17.  Walter Hodge scored 20 for Virgin Islands in the loss.

Jamaica has started the tournament with 2 wins and no defeats, while Virgin Islands dropped to 0-2.

Cuba 80, Nicaragua 47 


Behind 34 points and 11 rebounds by Lisvan Valdez and playing with just 7 players, Cuba destroyed Nicaragua by 33 points.  Cuba lead by 20 points at the half (40-20)   and the lead grew to 30 in the middle of the third.

Dominican Republic 85 vs Mexico 67


DR took a 42-40 lead at the half. Al Horford and Eulis Báez combined for 21 points. For Mexico,  Paul Stoll had 11 points and Gustavo Ayon has been quiet, he has only .

The Dominicans outscored the Mexicans  21-14 in the third quarter and found themselves with a 63-54 lead. Al Horford led the way with good post moves, a three pointer and a furious dunk to end the quarter.

The 4th quarter was much of the same, Dominican Republic increased the lead to 23 and that was it for Mexico.  Al Horford had 24 and 8, Jack Michael Martinez had 18 and 13 boards.  Victor Mariscal had 17 points for Mexico, Hornets Gustavo Ayon was a big no show.

Dominican Republic is now 1-0 

Puerto Rico 88, Bahamas 71


David Huertas continued his hot shooting streak, he had 21 points. Backup point guard Filiberto Rivera had 12 points (all in 2nd half) for Puerto Rico.  Puerto Rico had an 11 point lead at the half, and extended it to 21 in the second. Bahamas had no shot at winning this game, Marvin Gray had 14 points for Bahamas.



Puerto Rico now has 2 wins and has yet to lose a game.
